History

McDonald’s was founded in 1940 by Richard and Maurice McDonald in San Bernardino, California, USA. The restaurant initially served barbecue food but later streamlined its menu to focus on hamburgers, fries, and milkshakes, which proved to be a success. In 1955, businessman Ray Kroc joined the company as a franchise agent and eventually purchased the rights to the brand, expanding it into a global fast-food empire.

Over the years, McDonald’s has introduced several iconic menu items, including the Big Mac, Egg McMuffin, and Happy Meal.
